The starting brief
The initial brief called for a large central island combining washing up, storage and seating, alongside accessible pantry storage and space for tall appliances. A plain, contemporary appearance without decorative ironmongery was also part of the brief. The accompanying early plan identifies both a kitchen and a separate food store, placing the island, appliance positions and food storage within the same planning conversation.
One stone across three surfaces
Tansley Farm is a bespoke kitchen in the Cotswold District. Calacatta Hermitage stone is used across the worktops, splashbacks and island, connecting the working surfaces and the vertical backdrop through a repeated material.
Cabinetry and stone considered together
The cabinetry is finished in plain lacquer with a gold metallic effect. Alongside it, the same stone connects worktops, splashbacks and island. Follow that material through the project photographs to see the relationship between the vertical surfaces and the working areas, as well as the island.
Prepare a material brief for your kitchen
For your own project, identify the floor, furniture and finishes that will remain. Bring photographs or references for those materials and note which surfaces you would like to connect. The discussion can then consider whether to repeat a material or introduce contrast, alongside the practical requirements of your worktop, splashback and island. Ask the studio which current samples are available before arranging a visit.
